Dr. Stetson Returns from Cuba and Receives Special Award for his Humanitarian Efforts in Cuba
October 23, 2007
In the 18th assembly on February 24, 2001, the province agreed to give an Award called “Escuso de la Provincia” to recognize particular individuals who have helped with the successful developments of Cuba, Augustin Gregorio Arza Pascual was elected President of the Assembly of the Province in December 9th, 2000.
William Boris Stetson MD, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialist, was trained in arthroscopic surgery for shoulders and knees. He is an Assistant Professor at USC. In 2003, Dr. Stetson started a project to collaborate the development of the specialization of arthroscopic surgery with the Cuban Society of Orthopedic and Traumatology. He has participated in training courses to teach our young surgeons new techniques.
He has visited several places in the Province and has also donated equipment necessary for the development of this country. He has shown his love for his profession, and his respect for his friends in “Avila.” The efforts have won the admiration of the Province.
In my position as President, it is my honor to announce that: “Dr. William Boris Stetson has been distinguished with the “Escudo de la Provincia” or the “Coat of Arms from the Province” of Ciego de Avila, in appreciation for his efforts and the cooperation that he’s brought to the Province and to our country.”
This distinction is given to him with the motive that he will continue to return to our Province.
